Dates of Stay: Two weeks, January 2017
Located in Oldsmar, Florida, about 25 minutes from downtown Tampa, Bay Bayou RV resort is one of my go-to’s for the Tampa area.
Heavily populated with snowbirds from Canada and the U.S. East Coast during the winter, Bay Bayou has tons of amenities and social activities if that’s your thing. Pool, bustling community center, shuffleboard – you can be as active and engaged as you want to be.
There are dog parks for both large and small dogs, laundry facilities in various stations around the park, and several water features with waterfowl.
The park is very close to the Oldsmar Flea Market, open Friday through Sunday.
As with most RV parks, you’ll pay less the longer you stay. Rates during high season are in the $60-$70 per night range.
UPDATE: I returned to Bay Bayou for two weeks in January 2018 to attend the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. The only spots available were in the newly-constructed Bayou Grande area of the park, with larger spots with 50 and 100 amp power, some with views of the water. Rates are about $6 more per night.
