Date Of Stay: March 16, 2016
As I approach a new town or city, this is the order in which I look for a place to spend the night:
1. Harvest Hosts
2. Eagles Aerie
4. State or federal park
5. Wal Mart
6. Truck stop
Camping at fairgrounds is generally designed for those attending or vending an event on the grounds. Therefore, they are usually bare-bones and no-frills. That’s OK if I’m just passing through. Spaces are usually available at fairgrounds, because they are not considered destination spots!
I thought $40 for one night was a bit steep at Cal Expo. The people behind the counter were a bit snarky too. The campground was a decent walk to chain restaurants and stores.
Cal Expo was convenient for my purposes for the short visit with my friend Michelle, whose office is in the area. But I’d be hard-pressed to stay there again.
