It isn’t every day that one gets the opportunity to camp at an historic Civil War site, but you will at Holiday Travel Park.

The park is a 15-minute drive to downtown Chattanooga and a couple of exits away from Rock City.  It is quiet at night, and the office staff are helpful and friendly.

A very short walk from your campsite reveals a marker commemorating that the 84th Indiana encamped here in 1863.

The sites are a tad cramped, but livable. There are plenty of bathrooms and showers. I didn’t use the laundry room located at the office, but it was spacious and had quite a few machines.

I was happy to see a dog park, but the gravel (no grass) was hard on little paws and made it difficult to run around.

For any last-minute needs, there is a Dollar General directly across the road.

Tammy’s Tip: Pull-through sites 134 – 148 have a front view of a green space.
